Chief Business Officer
ABOUT THE POSITION
Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent, the Chief Business Officer (CBO) is responsible for the organization and administration of the financial and business affairs of the Menlo Park City School District (District), such as the annual budget, payroll, purchasing, investment and risk management, and bond oversight/management. ABOUT THE DISTRICT
The District’s families are diverse, speaking over 40 different home languages and representing a broad spectrum of socio-economic statuses. The family community is engaged and supportive, offering hundreds of hours of volunteer service at the school and district levels and running the education foundation, Menlo Park Atherton Education Foundation (MPAEF). The annual campaign that funds the four Parent Teacher Organizations and the MPAEF is financially supported by over 60% of families. Additionally, the broader community has approved parcel taxes that provide 16% of the District’s budget. District families value strong academics as well as enrichment instruction such as music, library, art, 40+ middle school electives, and a large assortment of afterschool activities and sports. Partnership is prioritized with neighboring TK-8 districts, along with a strong alignment with the public high schools into which we feed. The District is comprised of three elementary schools (on four campuses) and one middle school with approximately 2,700 students enrolled. The District has a General Fund budget of $74 million. The District is also supported by a parcel tax.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training in business, public administration, or an appropriate field; master’s degree preferred
- Experience in public school business, comparable private sector experience, or related school operations
SALARY
The salary for this position is $243,933. Additional earnings include a monthly mileage stipend. In addition to this salary, a generous benefits package is offered.
