The California Public Employees Relations Board (PERB) has closed its offices while their employees are performing duties via telework. Filings in person are suspended in accordance with the stay-at-home order by Governor Gavin Newsom. U.S. Mail and facsimile filings are still accepted and must be addressed to the correct Regional Office. Email filings will be accepted, but PERB will require an original for later filing. Phone service for voicemail is still available as agents regularly check their voicemail.
However, during this crisis all timelines remain in full-force and effect. If extensions are needed, for filing or other required circumstances, local educational agencies will need to ask the assigned Board agent for an extension.
For Process Service, PERB is asking for email addresses and consent to electronic service for service that is not possible in person or through the U.S. Postal Service. If consent is not given, PERB may have to place the case in abeyance until the stay-at-home order is lifted and process service in person or by U.S. Mail can be resumed.
Electronic signatures will be accepted during this time by either using a digital copy of your actual signature or a digital signature that looks like this: /s/name.
