Due to a state of emergency as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Gavin Newsom issued Executive Order N-25-20 on March 4, 2020. The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) has followed up by suspending the work-hour limitations and the 180-day break-in-service requirement for the retired annuitants. These suspensions began with the Executive Order and will remain in place until the state of emergency is lifted.
Local educational agencies must continue to enroll and report retired annuitants to CalPERS. For details, read the most recent CalPERS Circular Letter 200-015-20.
