Last Friday, March 13, 2020, Governor Gavin Newsom released Executive Order N-26-20 to assist local educational agencies (LEAs) that close during the COVID-19 crisis (see “Governor Issues Executive Order in Response to School Closures Due to the COVID-19 Crisis,” in the current Fiscal Report).
The Executive Order also directs the California Department of Education (CDE) and the California Health and Human Services Agency (CHHS) to jointly develop and issue guidance by today, March 17, 2020. State Superintendent of Public Instruction (SSPI) Tony Thurmond will be leading a webinar tomorrow morning (March 18) at 10:00 a.m. that will allow the teams that have been working on the guidance to walk LEAs through each section. There will also be a question and answer segment after each section of the guidance has been covered in the webinar.
