On October 14, 2019, the California Department of Education (CDE) posted factors that, in addition to other relevant local conditions and concerns, should be considered when making a temporary school closure decision. The factors include health and safety measures, instructional time, timing, and a communication plan, in addition to equity considerations (e.g., schools provide a safe environment for students and are an alternative to child care for some parents). The CDE also provides links to the Public Safety Power Shutoff FAQs and the Form J-13 waiver. To view the webpage, click here.
